First up, Schutz will be giving a lecture at the University of Denver next week on Wednesday, September 19, 6:00 pm. This Hamilton Collaborative Visiting Artist lecture is free and open to the public, with a reception afterwards. It will be held in Nagel Art Studios, located between the Shwayder Art Building and the Ritchie Center, room 1495. For DU students and DU Art Members only, Schutz will participate in a brown bag lunch from 11 am-noon on Tuesday, September 25 in the Myhren Gallery.
Also next week, MCA Denver will unveil a new Dana Schutz: Works on Paper exhibition, curated by Nora Burnett Abrams. There will be an opening party Friday, September 21, from 6-10 pm. 6-8 pm is the members' preview, 8-10 pm is open to everyone and free.
Then on November 11, 2012, a ten-year survey of Schutz's work will open at the Denver Art Museum, entitled Dana Schutz: If the Face Had Wheels. The show will include 31 paintings and 8 works on paper. This is a traveling exhibition organized by the Neuberger Museum of Art at Purchase College, SUNY. Both the MCA Denver and DAM exhibitions will be up through January 13, 2013.
The Denver Art Museum is also hosting a Logan Lecture Wednesday, November 7, 2012 with Dana Schutz. This lecture starts at 7 pm and is open to the public. Tickets start at $18 for general admission.
James Kalm, celebrated New York art-world vlogger, captured Schutz's recent exhibition at Friedrich Petzel Gallery, Piano in the Rain.
